At Grassy Creek, the guidance program has a variety of services to help remove barriers to students learning to the best of their ability. The Grassy Creek Cares Parent Survey given at the beginning of the year to all students or upon student enrollment date is the way referrals to these programs are most likely to occur. If you need a copy, please call or e-mail us.
Some Guidance Work services may include:
Individual Check-Ins: Students work with the guidance department on an individual basis. Referrals can be made by a teacher, a parent, or by personal request of student. If you feel your child would benefit from working with the guidance department, please contact Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Guitar. Space is limited, and there may be a waiting period before services can start. Additionally, due to social distancing there may be changes regarding services available this year.
Group Education & Support: Small groups offered will be more general in focus. These groups will work to build student understanding of their feelings, the causes of their feelings and their choices of behavioral responses (coping skills) in various situations. These groups are usually 5-6 weeks in duration meeting once per week. Please check with Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Guitar regarding timing of groups. Space is limited, and there may be a waiting period between group sessions. Additionally, due to social distancing there may be changes regarding services available this year.
Classroom Guidance Lessons: The overall theme of classroom guidance lessons will be our Warrior Way which includes our "BE's": BE Responsible, BE Respectful, and BE Safe. There will also be additional lessons regarding bully-free behaviors and self regulation skills. Most lessons during 2020-2021 school year will be distributed virtually to help with social distancing.
Connecting to Services: Our team helps connect families to food assistance, holiday assistance, school supplies, assistance with eye exams/glasses, information regarding medicaid enrollment, and connecting with Adult & Child, Clark Pleasant Clinician & outside mental health services. Additional resources on this topics can be found on our districts website: https://sites.google.com/cpcsc.k12.in.us/communityconnect/home/community-resources
Grassy Creek Cares Philanthropy Program: Grassy Creek is dedicated to the education of students in and out of the classroom. One important lesson for our students is how to give back and share resources with others. There are many ways our students and families can help our school and community. Please see this year's brochure to learn more about how you can help: Additionally, due to social distancing there may be changes regarding services available this year. (brochure currently being updated, check back again soon)
